On the reverse side there are inset plans of Baltimore, Richmond, Norfolk-Portsmouth, and Washington, D.C., along with a road map of the northeastern states.
The map was distributed by the Pure Oil Company in 1951 and is dated by the code number in the lower margin: 1-463617V-11. The code on the cover is 51-B. Population data is from the 1950 census (preliminary).
The front cover artwork features the company's traditional blue and white sign, with the message "Be Sure With Pure."
On the rear cover there are illustrations of Pure products, including a pair of gas pumps: "Pure-Pep in the blue pump. Pure-Premium in the white pump."
Fourteen years after this map was printed, Pure was acquired by Union Oil of California, and its stations were rebranded. The Pure Oil name has since vanished from America's roadways.
