    Description

61 large rolls of telephone cable made and used for military communications across the ground early 1950s or late 1940s. May sell for merely the copper value, but if you have 10 miles of landlines to connect, this is it. Price is uncertain; I am looked into value for the copper on 2-21-21. These are on large heavy steel spools and came from a shed near the Telco at Turtle Lake in 1991. They have been in a dry structure since then. I would rather see these go for a more practical use rather than scrap, but it's time to be more active in disposing of these. There appears to be some variation. Some spools have a number on them. I have one spool on Ebay "with a number". A perspective buyer researched it and said that it is Army filed communications cable commissioned 1952, shielded with 3 steel galvanized cords, 4 tinned copper wire, thick rubber insulated. This rubber must have been right out of the rubber tree. Maybe it will grow. No cracking; like new yet.
A copper buyer stopped by one day lately and offered .90 a pound.  Sad to see it go like that.   About 30 years ago, I buried some of it from one building to another about 50' apart. I twisted the two pair together and hooked up a light socket, 2-prong cord socket/jack and a switch. It continues to be used for plugging in tank heaters, air compressors and light. Throw your cell phone away and enjoy long distance landline using this cable. Some have lots of dust on them but they are all the same color of black).
