Description
This is a large pair of free form brass and sterling clip earrings. Each one is signed "Brass, Sterling" and then a name which is not entirely legible: something like "Bellado" that might be "Belladonna" or Belladoro" or something similar--the last letters are partially worn away, or did not get imprinted all the way, owing to the placement on the metal. All the writing is in script and looks as though it was handwritten. The metal is wavy, not straight, so it might have been difficult to engrave or do the imprinting, I ma not sure. The clip arms are not sterling, they are just base metal, but the silver metal on the front does test properly for sterling. Each earring measures 2" high x 1.75" wide at the widest points. They sort of remind me of a fortune cookie in design--they are very free form studio art style. Some tarnish and surface wear throughout, but with great patina. I suppose you could use some brass polish on them, but I wouldn't recommend that, they have such a great vintage look this way. There are also some very visible solder drops in silver coloring on the back where the clip arms are attached. As can be seen in the last photo, the curve or "curl" in each one is a little different, they are not quite identical in shape to one another, as these would appear to be handmade. This is a wonderful pair of vintage statement piece earrings. Overall in very good pre-owned condition, flaws as noted. Please click on the link to my store policies page for information on payment and shipping.
