  • Condition: This medal should actually be named The Greater East Asia War Commemorative Medal. After the defeat of Japan, the original medals were all destroyed, but because the molds of the medals remained replicas were made and issued after the war. A large chrysanthemum crest at the center with 8 sunrays extending in all directions signifying the Emperors grace bathing the world with his grace. A pair of swords for the Army and Navy. Cherry blossoms around the rim show the loyalty and bravery of the soldier. This is the variation with a map of East Asia, inscribed Great East Asia War Medal above and dated Sh?wa 16 (1941) December 8 to Sh?wa 20 (1945) August 15 below that.
