Il Trovatore is an opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto largely written by Salvadore Cammarano, based on the play El trovador by Antonio García Gutiérrez.
My Grandmother first attended Il Trovatore on April 21, 1908. She used the libretto again on April 12, 1910. Both performances were in Chicago. She included a hand-written note of the cast in 1908 and in 1910 pasted in part of the program listing cast and setting. She also included a copy of the Chicago Civic Opera Company's program for Il Trovatore's cast and company for a Sunday matinee on December 1st at 3 during the 1929-1930 season. The libretto is in good condition, intact with all pages. This is a piece of history.
