    Description

For the development and production of the 1995 film, Judge Dredd, a team of many artists helped to conceptualize the world of the character.
In this example, this is an original hand-rendered concept design illustration in marker by Matt Codd depicting the flying Lawmaster motorcycle, produced during the pre-production development phase led by Production Designer Nigel Phelps. A featured example in publications at the time of the film's release, this artwork can be seen in The Art of Judge Dredd book on pages 120-121 and the Cinefantastique magazine August 1995 issue on page 28. Measuring 17" x 11", it includes a stamping noting it was copyrighted 1993 by Cinergi Pictures N.V. All Rights Reserved. With two small mounting holes at the top corners from production presentation mounting, it remains in great condition with typical traits of hand-produced artwork. The marker-based work does show bleed-through on the back side which occurred during its creation.
Acquired in 2012, from the collection of the film's producer Charles Lippincott, this has been stored away as it was purchased without prior display use.
This is just one of many examples Hollywood Cargo is listing of the different examples of motion picture development, production and promotion processes with other items associated to Judge Dredd being listed.
