.  Opera fans and music historians will love this vintage hard cover book about the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.  Please find on offer here:
“Opera Cavalcade—the Story of the Metropolitan Opera,”
written by Ruth Adams Knight.  This large but relatively thin hard cover book (9 ¼ x 12 ¼ inches, 68 pages) was published by the Metropolitan Opera Guild of New York, dated 1938 (and no other edition mentioned or reference to same found online).  This book is bound in red, white and gilt paper covered decorative boards with a red cloth spine.  This book is filled with vintage b&w photos of the theatre and many of the major stars of the times.
Condition:
This book is in good condition.  The hard covers have seen some wear, including edge wear, light soiling, and what appears to be finish loss to the cloth spine as the result of insect damage (now eradicated!).  Inside, a former owner has left her inked name and address on the front endpaper but that is the only mark I found in the book.  The central spine of each page is darkened, starting with the endpapers and throughout the book, albeit without affecting either text or photos (please see the photos).  Both hinges are fully intact and the binding is tight and sound.  This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
