Description
Nikita Knatz was a talented artist and one of the most in-demand in modern cinema and television. Knatz worked occasionally as an actor, second unit director, associate producer and production designer, but he made his mark on the entertainment business as a production illustrator / conceptual designer / storyboard artist. Knatz has more then 100 films and television credits to his name, including many Academy Award-winning motion pictures, box office hits and large scale productions such as In The Heat Of The Night, The Thomas Crown Affair, Le Mans, The Towering Inferno, Black Sunday, The Hunter, Escape From Alcatraz, Ordinary People, Terminator, Predator, Commando, Moonstruck, Independence Day and Sister Act. Born in Estonia in 1940, he died in Studio City, Los Angeles in 2010.Of the 2 pieces offered here, ONLY ONE OF THEM IS SIGNED BY NIKITA KNATZ (the main one of "cowboy holding rifle"). None the less the other one appears to me to have been illustrated at the same time for the same movie / TV show since it's identical in concept, style and condition. (I acquired both of them together at an estate sale in L.A.)
More photos available upon request - Etsy will only let me upload 10!
Both illustrations have been mounted on card (Charlotte Board).
#1 Cowboy with Rifle: card size: 24 1/8" x 20" x 1/16" // actual illustration size: 22 1/2" x 17 3/4"
#2 Three Different Cowboy Illustrations on one piece of card: 29 7/8" x 20" x 1/16"
Both of these illustrations show signs of age and wear as all great vintage items do. Examine all the pictures closely. Zoom in & out to get a good sense of it's exact condition: a picture tells a thousand words. The photos of the illustrations serve as a document as to their condition. You will receive the exact illustrations pictured here. In particular please note that the main illustration #1 of the "cowboy with rifle" HAS A TEAR / RISING ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. Fortunately not over the cowboy himself; see pic. The #2 illustration (which is actually 3 illustrations on card) has minor heat / water damage where the paper is rising in parts from the backing card; see pic.
These two illustrations are a real living part of Hollywood and film history and will greatly add to any collection.
