    Description

    The World War One Victory
    Medal (
    戦捷記章
    Senshō kishō)
    was created by Imperial Edit No. 406 on September 17th, 1920;
    and was awarded to military personnel who “served with merit and zeal between August 23

    , 1914 and January 9

    , 1920”.
    This is one of 17 different allied nations medals issued on the same ribbon (two rainbows joined by central red line), all of them 36mm in diameter, and were made after Marshal Foch’ suggestion. Designed is Hata Shōkichi
    畑正吉
    (1882-1966). Number of medals minted and awarded was 193,300, which is significantly less than number of Japanese soldiers that served in WWI and Siberian campaign.
