Extremely RARE PURE OIL Truckstop Design Planner Book. This is an authentic PURE Truckstop Design Planner book that was only sent to owners of franchises never released or available to the public so these are ultra-rare and hard to find. I have only seen one other example of this book on the collectors market. Very few even exist as far as I know and this one is in really good condition.
I have been selling Pure Oil memorabilia off and on for the last few years and have never seen anything like this before. The Pure Oil Company TruckStop Design Planner came out of a private collection. The book measure rough;ly 12 1/4" x 10". While Pure Oil wanted to expand the TruckStop network, the company always seemed to be short of cash. As an alternative to funding the expansion, Pure would go to distributors, jobbers, marketers and even private individuals and would try to convince them to build TruckStops at their cost in return for Pure Oil's name, signs and fuel supply. In many cases, Pure Oil had an option to buy the location at a later date or in some cases leased the facility back from the owner. In order to realize some consistency in the network, Pure required that these 3rd parties build the facility to Pure's specifications.This "Planner" would be shown to these 3rd parties by Pure representatives in order to pick out the basic layout to be used. Once this was decided, Pure would then provide necessary plans and specs to build the facility.The Planner provides for 21 different floor plans (both single and 2 story buildings). This is done with a series of 8 plastic overlays that fold out either left to right, right to left and bottom to top.
It would look great in your home Vintage Automobile collection. Overall a Rare Cool piece of old automobilia!
