MEDAL made at the Imperial Japan Mint to commemorate the Crown Prince (Emperor Hirohito, the Showa Emperor during WW2), visit to Europe.
He made a long voyage overseas visiting many countries - which was unusual and he was the first of the imperial family to do this. Very highly detailed medal with the obverse showing the Crown Prince in full military dress and the reverse has the battleship Katori, doves to either side, superimposed over a globe and is dated March 3, 1921.
Even though the medal is dated 1921, the trip did not start until March 3, 1922. The trip was delayed because the Katori was still being used to cover landing troops during the Siberian Intervention.
THE PHOTO IS ORIGINAL although I DO NOT THINK THAT IT IS HIROHITO but A BOY SHAVED TO IMITATE
HIM. EXCELLENT! This excellent item is as it was found stored.
