  • Condition: VERY SCARCE 1920 gazetted Imperial Japanese Army Navy Machine gun proficiency qualification badge. The badge is very clean with gold highlights around the cherry blossom. The original box has the designation of the badge but it has broken apart. The latch is intact. The obverse features The Type 3 heavy machine gun (三年式重機関銃, San-nen-shiki juu-kikanjuu), also known as the Taishō 14 machine gun a Japanese air-cooled heavy machine gun. The badge was established under new army training guidelines in 1882. the Type 2 Badge for First Class Marksmen (第二種) was limited to 2 NCOs per battalion. These badges of honor were presented to the winners in the presence of the entire regiment, the NCOs being awarded by the regimental commander and the badges were worn throughout the individual’s military service.
