WOW! Tim Burton film artifacts are extremely rare and this is one is very unusual. Originally the Martians for Mars Attacks were going to be created by the great British stop motion animation studio MacKinnon & Saunders Animation Studio. They had created the stop motion animation maquettes, puppets, and miniature sets before Industrial Light and Magic convinced Tim to produce the Martians in computer animation. The puppets along with the finished and unfinished maquettes, like this one, were used by the ILM animator as a reference for their animation. This Martian maquette sculpture, which was sculpted by both Ian MacKinnon and Peter Saunders, was cast from the original molds for both the maquettes and stop motion puppets.
This unfinished production used Martain Maquette comes with it's body, head, and the back pack tanks. Additionally this maquette is missing two fingers from it's right hand. It is made of casting resin.
This item comes from the Nancy and Hal Miles Collection and is accompanied with a Letter Of Authenticity from Nancy and Hal Miles. Nancy and Hal Miles are both internationally renowned animation and movie historians and professionals totaling a combined 90 years of experience.
